As a three-time Hawaii Ironman qualifier, Andy is able to offer his clients a unique training experience. 20+ years of experience, Andy will make use of applied scientific training methods plus basic coaching principles he has used with many clients to get more out of themselves than they thought was possible.

He has found that athletes need accountability and structure to perform at their best, plus a human to talk to about real life challenges. A father of two, he has learnt to balance life and sport to maintain a competitive level at Ironman distance triathlons. Health is the foremost concern as he sees endurance athletes heading in the direction of poor health, constant searching of more results and the next best thing.

A specialist in hydration and fuelling for race day performance he also has experience in body composition, corrective exercise prescriptions and lifestyle coaching. He has spent time studying under the renowned Dr Dan Plews he has experience in low carb high fat application in long distance competition, heat protocols and so much more.

By taking a holistic approach Andy will give you the tools that you need to develop good habits and decision making skills.

Andy has 5 years of Hydration testing experience using Precision Fuel & Hydration equipment has been able to fine tune Pro athletes sodium and fluid strategy plus make fuel recommendations.

Testing will enable us to help you personalise your hydration strategy for the event you’re training for. Here’s why that’s important…
  • Everyone loses a different amount of sodium in their sweat, from as little as 200mg per litre of sweat to as much as 2,000mg/l!
  • This is largely genetically determined. So, a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to hydration just doesn’t work.
  • Most electrolyte supplements contain 200-550mg of sodium per litre, whereas the average athlete loses about 950mg/l!
  • Maintaining the sodium levels in your blood is crucial to performing at your best, especially over long endurance events.
  • Sodium helps you absorb and retain fluid, which keeps your blood volume up, reducing cardiovascular strain, fatigue.
  • It can also help you avoid cramp. (More on that here)
  • Just drinking water when sweating over long periods dilutes your sodium levels, which can really impact your performance and could lead to hyponatremia. A recent study found 10% of athletes had hyponatremia at the end of an Ironman!
The test is done at rest and is totally non-invasive. It tells you exactly how much sodium you lose in your sweat and allows us to create a fully Personalised Hydration Plan around that. You’ll only ever need to take it once in your life and you can tweak your hydration strategy as your race/competition plans change in the future at no extra cost.
